Terms for applying and using Solar PayGo

Version solar-terms-2026-10 · effective 21 October 2026

Draft for legal review. Bracketed details are still to be confirmed by the business.

In short

  • Applying is free and does not commit you to buy anything. Submitting an application is not an approval.
  • We check your identity, call you to confirm you asked for the device and understand the costs, and a person decides.
  • The deposit is shown before you submit and does not change after that. You pay nothing until you are approved.
  • Pay only through the channels shown in your account. Never give cash to a sales rep or pay into anyone’s personal account.
  • Nothing about financing is final until you read and accept your financing agreement, which shows the total cost.
  • We will treat you fairly: no threats, no shaming, and no contacting your friends or family about money you owe.

1.Who we are and what these terms cover

Solar PayGo is operated by [Company legal name] Limited (RC [RC number]), [Registered office address], Nigeria (“we”, “us”). These terms apply when you create a Solar PayGo account, apply for a solar product, or use your account to follow an application.

They do not finance anything on their own. If your application is approved, you will be offered a separate financing agreement (see section 7). If these terms and your financing agreement ever disagree, the financing agreement wins for anything it covers.

How we handle your personal information is explained in our privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.

2.Who can apply

  • You must be at least 18 years old and live in Nigeria.
  • You must apply for yourself, with your own National Identification Number (NIN) and a mobile number you use. Applying in someone else’s name is not allowed.
  • You can have one application in progress at a time. An application stays in progress until it is fulfilled, rejected, withdrawn or expires.

3.Applying with a sales representative or online

You can apply in two ways:

  • With one of our sales representatives (DSRs). The representative fills in the application with you, uploads your documents with your permission and is recorded on your application. They must explain the device, the deposit and the repayment options honestly. A representative cannot approve your application, change your agreement, or accept money from you.
  • Online, by yourself. The deposit for an online application can be higher than with a representative, because it costs us more to verify. The deposit for your device and channel is shown on the form before you submit.

If a representative registered you, you can set your own password with a code we text to your number (“Set a password” on the sign-in page), then follow the application yourself and withdraw it if you did not ask for it. If you did not ask anyone to apply for you, contact us straight away (section 15).

4.The information you give us

You must give true, complete and current information, including your name exactly as it appears on your NIN record, your date of birth, your address and your monthly income. Upload a genuine NIN slip and a recent photo of your own face.

If you give an alternate contact, you confirm that the person has agreed to it. We use it only to reach you when we cannot reach you directly (see our privacy notice).

We may reject an application that contains false or misleading information, and we may report suspected fraud or identity theft to the authorities.

5.How we review your application

After you submit, we:

  • check your NIN and selfie with an identity verification service that confirms them against the national identity record;
  • call you on the number you gave, to confirm that you asked for the device and that you understand the deposit, the repayment schedule, the total cost and any fees; we record the outcome of each call attempt;
  • check eligibility and affordability, look for duplicate or suspicious applications, and decide.

A member of our verification team makes every decision; we do not approve or reject applications by computer alone. We may approve, reject, return the application to you for missing information, or put it on hold. We record the reason for each step, and you can see the progress in your account. If your application is returned, the note tells you what we need.

An approval means we are ready to offer you a financing agreement. It does not mean a device has been reserved, paid for or delivered: those happen only after the steps in sections 6 and 7.

6.Deposit and payments

The deposit for your chosen device and application channel is shown before you submit. When you submit, that amount is fixed on your application; later changes to our prices do not affect it. If we correct an error in your favour or grant a discount, we will tell you in writing.

We do not take any payment when you apply. You pay the deposit only after approval and after accepting your financing agreement.

  • Pay only through the payment options shown in your Solar PayGo account (for example, our approved online payment providers).
  • Never pay cash to, or transfer money into the personal account of, a sales representative or any staff member. We cannot credit payments made that way.
  • A payment counts only when our system has confirmed it with the payment provider. A screenshot or receipt from someone else is not proof of payment.
  • We will never ask for your bank PIN, card PIN, password or one-time code.

7.Your financing agreement

If you are approved, we will give you a financing agreement to read before you commit. It will state clearly:

  • the device, its cash price and the financed price;
  • the deposit, the amount financed, the number and amount of instalments and their due dates;
  • the total you will pay and any fees, with nothing hidden;
  • how to pay off early, what happens if a payment is late or missed, and any grace period;
  • when the device becomes yours, the warranty, and how unlock codes work for your device.

You do not have to accept it. Take the time you need and ask us anything you do not understand.

8.Pay-as-you-go devices and unlock codes

Many pay-as-you-go solar devices need an unlock code or a remote activation to keep working, and stop working when paid-up time runs out. Your agreement explains whether this applies to your device. We issue codes only after a payment has been confirmed, aim to deliver them quickly, and you can see them in your account.

Do not open, modify or tamper with a device or its lock, or try to get codes by any other means.

9.How we treat you, including if you fall behind

We commit to fair and respectful treatment. In particular:

  • Payment reminders are sent by text, in-app message or calls at reasonable hours. We will not threaten, insult or harass you.
  • We will not contact your family, friends, employer or phone contacts about money you owe, or publish anything about you. We use your alternate contact only to ask you to get in touch, never to discuss your account.
  • If you are struggling, tell us early: we will discuss your options. A missed payment or a dispute will never on its own lead to forcible removal of a device.
  • If a device ever has to be recovered, it will only be as your agreement allows and the law permits, by authorised staff, with notice to you, and never by force.
  • If you report a fault covered by warranty, we will look into whether payments should be reviewed while the device is out of service.

10.Withdrawing your application

You can withdraw your application in your account at any time before our verification team starts working on it, at no cost. After that, contact us and we will close it. Withdrawing does not delete the records we have to keep (see our privacy notice).

11.Your account

  • Keep your password private and do not share your account. You are responsible for what is done with it until you tell us it has been misused.
  • Tell us straight away if you notice anything you did not do, such as an application you did not make.
  • We may suspend an account to protect you or us, for example where we suspect fraud. We will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

12.Questions, complaints and disputes

Contact us through the details in section 15. We aim to acknowledge a complaint within [2 working days] and resolve it within [14 days], and we will tell you if it will take longer and why.

If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). For complaints about your personal data, you may contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Nigerian law.

13.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Each version has its own number, and we record which version you accepted. Changes do not alter the deposit fixed on an application you have already submitted, or a financing agreement you have signed. We will tell you about important changes before they take effect.

14.Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts can hear any dispute about them.
